SUMMARY
THANK YOU!
1.A HealthCare Associated Infection (HCAI) is an infection that occurs following or during a healthcare intervention whether undertaken in the community (including the patient's home) or hospital/ clinical setting. HCAIs can be caused by different kinds of pathogenic micro-organisms (an infectious agent that can cause disease) such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
2.HCAI's can affect any part of the body but in the UK, the gastrointestinal and respiratory systems and the urinary tract are most commonly affected.
