Description

1.Dementia is a progressive, and eventually a severe long-term syndrome that causes cognitive decline relative to adult level of competence. 

2.The impairment in cognitive function is commonly accompanied, and occasionally preceded, by deterioration in emotional control, social behaviour, or motivation.

3.Dementia is one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people worldwide.

4.Dementia is a result of damage to the brain caused by diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, build-up of tiny deposits of protein (Lewy Bodies) blocking communication between nerve cells, cardiovascular disorders such as strokes or multiple transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs) etc.
