Description

1.Identify and use the appropriate materials and equipment needed for blood sampling and ensuring you use personal protective clothing.

2.Understand the importance of confirming patient ID and consent prior to the procedure and ways of obtaining same before starting the procedure.

3.Know the process of obtaining and labeling the transfusion sample.

4.Recognize the possible consequences of confusing samples or incorrectly labeling samples and blood products.

5.Follow and adhere to the standards and procedures for the safe disposal of equipment and material.

6.Be able to communicate effectively to the laboratory in the event of urgent requests for blood product.
